Welcome to AlanOps 👋
A new home for DevOps, automation, and a bit of AI curiosity
Hi, I’m Alan DevOps Engineer, automation enthusiast, and someone who’s always tinkering with ways to build things better, faster, and more reliably. If you’ve found your way here, welcome!
AlanOps.com is my new digital home a place to share what I’m learning, building, breaking, and improving in the world of DevOps. It’s part portfolio, part blog, and part brain-dump for the complex, fast-moving tech landscape we all navigate.
Why AlanOps?
For a long time, I ran my blog and experiments under hyperstream.co.uk, a domain I first registered after university when a friend and I dreamed of launching a web agency. The business didn’t quite take off, but the name stuck with me through various projects and phases.
Over the years, I’ve worn many hats: multimedia dev, IT lead, consultant, infra engineer, and now full-time DevOps. My focus has shifted and with that, I felt it was time to launch something that reflects who I am now and where I’m heading.
So here we are: AlanOps a site dedicated to the stuff I live and breathe every day.
What you’ll find here
If you’re into practical DevOps, automation, and a bit of experimentation with AI, you’ll feel at home here. Expect blog posts, notes, walkthroughs, and reflections on topics like:
- Infrastructure as Code with Terraform & Ansible
- AWS & Azure cloud architectures
- CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and GitLab
- Kubernetes (and all the “fun” that comes with it)
- Monitoring & observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, etc.)
- Automation workflows and scripting (Python, Bash)
- My experiments using AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and local models like Ollama to speed up DevOps tasks
- Occasional thoughts on productivity, mindset, and working sustainably in tech
I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel, just share what works, what doesn’t, and what I’m learning along the way. Think of this space as a growing DevOps lab that I hope will also be useful to others.
What’s next?
I’ll be posting regularly, not just tutorials or how-to guides, but also real-world reflections from the trenches. I want this site to reflect the messy, evolving nature of our work not just the polished end results.
Next up: a walkthrough of how I’m using AI coding assistants to offload some repetitive DevOps tasks and speed up internal documentation.
Let’s connect
If you’d like to chat, collaborate, or share ideas you can get in touch here, or connect with me on LinkedIn. Whether you’re deep into DevOps or just starting out, I’d love to hear from you.
Thanks for stopping by. More soon!
